My name is Pedro Julio Martín Villalba, I am from La Mancha but I consider myself from Seville; I was born in May 1978 and my capoeira nickname is Comprido (due to my size). I currently live in Seville (a city that I can’t bear abandoning during long periods of time).
I started training Capoeira in 1996, like most Spanish people, prompted by the film “Only the Strong” by Mark Damascos; I was already a Full Contact teacher at the time.
After introducing it in Seville, I received the degree of Instructor de Capoeira Regional from Mestre Cabeludo, at the Grupo de Capoeira Regional Porto da Barra, which I still consider as my 2nd family.

Due to various reasons and following the steps of my mentor and Professor Caveirinha (who is still teaching me), we changed group and I belong until present to the international family Mestre Dinho’s Topázio.
In year 2001 I received from Professor Rudson the graduation as Alumno Formado in Salvador de Bahia- Brazil, a graduation that I still have nowadays. I have worked in Seville for 5 years and some of my merits are:

Founding Partner of the C.D Capoeira Topázio en Sevilla (2001) |
I have travelled 3 times to Brazil to “get updated”, always for a batizado or meeting of Grupo Topazio and I usually spend the month of December there.
The only task I pursue every morning when I wake up is keep contributing to the diffusion of capoeira, Brazil’s martial art, and prove that it is an art for everyone.
My vocation and education prevent me from getting involved in any controversy between groups and a proof of that is the creation of the web CapoeiraBahiana.com, visited nowadays by more than 2000 active users. I am happy to contribute to projects presented by anyone as long as the reasons underlying them are honest.
The task of translating "Ao Som do Berimbau: capoeira" into English has been suggested in numerous occasions by some of my devoted students but it has not been done yet due to lack of time and availability.
It is being translated into French at the moment (2006).
It is available in the Spanish and Latin American (Spanish Speaking) countries only and Editorial Alas organizes the sending out regularly.
